Helping Families Make Summer Plans

Cambridge Camping works with families to help them provide safe and engaging summer opportunities for their children. We assist families financially through camp sliding scales, payment plans, scholarships and other resources. We know that choosing a camp and registering is sometimes complex, and we are happy to help.

Choosing A Camp

How do you choose a camp that you can trust will be right for you and your children? There are lots of considerations from your practical needs to just feeling good about who's taking care of your children. Cambridge Camping can help you sort through your needs and answer your concerns so you can feel good about the camp you've chosen.

Considerations for selecting a camp:

  • Age—not only do you want to know if your child is old enough/young enough to attend a specific camp, but also, will your child be with other campers his or her age or in a mixed-age group? How much time will be spent doing activities at your child's age level?
  • Day or Overnight camp—is your child (or are you?) ready for a more independent experience?
  • Day length—do you have childcare while you're at work?
  • Session length—for how long is your child ready to stay away from home? How long are you ready to let them go?
  • Does your child have special emotional, behavioral or physical needs?
  • Transportation—now that you've found a camp, how is your child going to get there and back? If it's a day camp, can you make this trip every day?
  • Cost
  • Accreditation—Local and state governments inspect and license camps. The American Camping Association (ACA) is a national organization with additional criteria it uses to evaluate and accredit camps. Camps will happy to let you know what licenses and accreditations they have received.

How We Can Help You Pay for Camp

On average, it costs $200 to $500 to provide one week of camp for one child. Many families simply cannot afford this. Cambridge Camping bridges the gap between what the family can pay and the cost of camp. Through our programs families pay an average of $100 per week for overnight camp and $30 per week for day camp.

Cambridge Camping helps families afford camp through:

  • Sliding scales & scholarships—tuition is charged on sliding scales based on family size and income
  • Payment plans—we can divide tuition into smaller payments, and tailor payment plans to family needs when necessary
  • Agency sponsorships—we may know of additional aid your child may qualify for from agencies you work with.
